Honoring A Legacy
On a poignant day in the heart of Abia State, the remains of Late Chief Michael Ifeanyichukwu Awaranti (Ibaradike-Egwu) found their final resting place. The serene country home in Achara, Uturu Community witnessed a gathering of dignitaries, each paying tribute to a remarkable life as honoured guests of Honorable Ifeanyi Njoko, the Labour Party candidate for House of Assembly 2023, and a son-in-law of the deceased.
Among those present was Dr. Onyinye Kay Rufus-Obi, the visionary behind the Dr. Onyinye Kay Rufus-Obi Foundation. Her commitment to uplifting the less privileged and displaced members of society has left an indelible mark. Through the foundation, she has championed meaningful projects that resonate not only within her community but also across the entire state of Abia and Nigeria.
The occasion was a tapestry of colours, as important figures joined hands to honor Chief Awaranti’s legacy. Dr. Onyinye’s presence underscored the Foundation’s mission—to bridge gaps, alleviate suffering, and create pathways to a brighter future. Her tireless efforts have attracted attention far beyond local boundaries, making her a beacon of hope for those in need.
As we bid farewell to a legend, the Dr. Onyinye Kay Rufus-Obi Foundation stood tall, represented by its dedicated members and allies from the Omekannaya Movement. Their collective commitment to positive change echoes Chief Awaranti’s spirit, ensuring that his memory lives on through transformative actions.
Let us also remember that Dr. Onyinye Kay Rufus-Obi once stood as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) House of Representatives candidate for the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency. Her journey from politics to philanthropy exemplifies the power of purpose-driven leadership.
In this convergence of past and present, we celebrate not only a life well-lived but also the promise of a better tomorrow—a promise that Dr. Onyinye Kay Rufus-Obi and her Foundation continue to fulfill.
